Real life “Hidden Figure” Dr. Christine Darden to visit Richmond Montessori School Friday

Dr. Darden, a retired NASA mathematician, data analyst and aeronautical engineer, was featured in the book “Hidden Figures: The Story of the African-American Women Who Helped Win the Space Race,” a 2016 book by Margo Lee Shetterly, on which the Oscar-nominated film “Hidden Figures” was based.

Dr. Christine Darden, a renowned NASA scientist, will visit Richmond Montessori School on Friday, April 21st, the school announced this week.

Dr. Darden, a retired NASA mathematician, data analyst and aeronautical engineer, was featured in the book “Hidden Figures: The Story of the African-American Women Who Helped Win the Space Race,” a 2016 book by Margo Lee Shetterly, on which the Oscar-nominated film Hidden Figures was based.

She will speak to students about her experience with the NASA space program and as an African-American woman in the science field in the 1960s.
