If you’re driven down W. Broad Street lately, you’ve no doubt seen the miles of construction cones and re-routed traffic patterns as the GRTC Pulse, the city’s Bus Rapid Transit system, is built along the corridor.

The construction means both temporary and permanent changes to parking along the road, as well as impacts to businesses along the route while construction takes place. To mitigate this issue, GRTC and the City of Richmond have teamed up for an “Open For Business” initiative touting the long-term benefits of the forthcoming bus system.

The two have been visiting local businesses to discuss the impacts and help stakeholders overcome the obstacles and dropping off “Open For Business” signs. Last week, the city also released a video encouraging locals to support businesses along the BRT route, which can be seen below.

Construction is expected to last through at least the fall. Click here for the latest construction information and a detailed timeline.
