Two bar arcade concepts could be on the horizon in Scott’s Addition

Not one, but two bar arcade combo concepts could be coming to Richmond’s hottest neighborhood, Scott’s Addition, various media outlets around town are reporting.

The two establishments are billed as bars that feature classic arcade games paired with craft beer and pub fare in a casual, laid back setting.

The first venture to be announced was one from a former Sweet Frog franchisee, Robert Lupica, reports Richmond BizSense:

Lupica, who will own and manage the Scott’s Addition venue, has signed a lease for the space and is targeting an April opening date.

While the name for the new venture is pending, Lupica said the [venue] will host over 70 vintage pinball and arcade games from the ’80s, ’90s and 2000s. They include Mortal Kombat, Donkey Kong, NBA Jam, NFL Blitz and Pac-Man. Board games, shuffleboard, giant Jenga, air hockey, skee ball and large projection screens with classic video games also will be offered at the site.

The 6,300-square-foot facility will be located at 3121 W. Leigh Street. Read all the details here.

The second is a venture from well-known local restauranteurs Jason Alley, Jay Bayer, and Michele Jones, who are currently teaming up for Flora–the restaurant which will soon take over the former Balliceaux space.

Karri Peifer, writing for the RTD, has the details:

“We’d been planning stuff for (the restaurant-brewery-arcade) when Balliceaux came up,” Jones said. “We found a place, we lost a place” in Scott’s Addition. The team is finalizing the lease on the actual space now, so there’s no location to share yet.

“It’s going to be a pretty big footprint — when it happens,” she said. And the spot will include some parking.

The restaurant/brewery/arcade will specialize in vintage arcade games (think Pac-Man), plus some “bigger fun” games, such as skee-ball.
