The official poster of the 2016 Richmond Folk Festival was revealed Wednesday night at Glave Kocen Gallery in The Fan.

Designed locally by artist Katie McBride, a graduate of VCU’s School of the Arts, the poster features familiar critters that are often seen in and around the James River overlooking a sky full of stars and a full moon that radiates with the “glow” of this year’s festival artists. A bridge representing the historic train trusses spanning the James spell out “Richmond.”

McBride has had her work on display in multiple local galleries, has taught art classes at the Visual Arts Center of Richmond and the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, and is currently a designer and staff illustrator at the University of Richmond.

A limited quantity of signed prints will be available for sale at this year’s festival, which runs October 7th through the 9th on the Downtown Richmond riverfront. Signed posters and festival merchandise are also available at Plan 9 Music in Carytown.
