Laura Lee’s has an opening date

Can the ‪#‎rvadine‬ scene deal with another tasty spot across the river? All signs point to yes.

Karri Peifer of RTD has the details on Southside’s latest restaurant’s opening date it’s Tuesday, Sept. 13 at 4 p.m. for the bar and 5 p.m. for dinner. The question on everyone’s lips though is the menu. On that Karri has scant details.

The opening menu at Laura Lee’s will include Loeb’s version of a Caprese Salad with house-made cheese clouds instead of the traditional, plain mozzarella. A shrimp toast with capers and a pork shank with chickpeas and mustard greens will also be on the opening menu, but beyond that, Loeb’s not giving up any more details until opening day.

Keep an eye out though I suspect the menu will leak out before Tuesday.

ORIGINAL POST 8/15/16:

The sign surely is a sign that opening is on the horizon. Sometimes swinging by WPA Southside (two biscuits and a Starwberry/Peach muffin for those inquiring minds, has unforeseen advantages. I arrived just as they had finished putting the sign up. This sign is the work of Sure Hands Signs whose work seems to be popping up everywhere with good reason.

Laura Lee’s is going into the short-lived White Horse Tavern spot on Semmes directly across from the Patrick Henry School. It is the latest project headed up by Kendra Murden of Ipanema, Garnett’s and Roosevelt.

If the Richmond Permitting Gods smile upon us all you can expect to be dining at Laura Lee’s in September but those Permitting Gods are a fickle lot so sacrifices might have to be made.

If you’ve been a loyal reader and I know you have back in June you got a preview of the sign from this post. I didn’t see the “Eat Here” sign anywhere, let’s hope it makes a late appearance because it’s sharp as well.

The picture above is posted to the Laura Lee’s Facebook page. The sign as you can see is by Surehand Signs who do wonderful work.

The Facebook page has progress pictures of the interior. Total gut job and re-do. Exciting stuff happening in Food Corner of H&H. Still shooting for a late July early August opening.
