Run to Williamsburg for a beer with the Growler Team Relay

The good news is you don’t have to do the entire run yourself.

I’ve been known to walk a few extra blocks to get a beer or even stand in line for a few minutes (notice I said minutes not hours like some folks) to get a tasty beverage. I have not however participated in a 63.2 mile to get my beer. If for some reason I want to change that non-achievement into an achievement that I would mention in every single conversation until my dying day I have my chance.

On October 15th at Triple Crossing starting at 7:30 in the morning teams will gather and head out on foot to the Virginia Beer Company in Williamsburg. Registration is opening up today. Sign up by 8 PM on Monday, September 5th for $60/person and after 8 PM on Monday, September 5th for $75/person. A portion of the proceeds will be given the Virginia Capital Trail which will be the main route.

More from VA Momentum:

You choose how many friends you’d like on your team: minimum of two and maximum of ten. Each leg of the route (which almost exclusively utilizes the Virginia Capital Trail) varies in distance. Teams are responsible for providing their own car(s), van(s) or Winnebago and runners will transition at preset points along the course. Some runners may run one leg of the course whereas others may run two or more legs …it’s your decision!

The Growler is social in nature. You’ll have a blast with your team and meet new friends. While one teammate runs, others will take fun photos, solve riddles and partake in friendly competitions at the transition points to earn extra beer tickets. We’ll throw a huge party at the finish line at VA Beer Company where you can celebrate with your new friends. The finisher medal is a commemorative growler to signify your epic completion of the hottest relay series on the east coast. For more detailed info, read the FAQ’s and Growler Guide.
