Style Weekly dines at Sugar’s Crab Shack

Fried seafood taste better if eaten outside. It’s a scientific fact.

Published

Every time I drive by Sugar’s Crab Shack I’m struck by how cool it looks and the crowd. It’s Croaker’s Spot pedigree alone is enough to attract crowds. These crowds are even more impressive since there is no indoor seating and it was only recently that Richmond magazine named Sugar’s Crab Shack one of Richmond’s Best New Quick & Casual Restaurants.

Full review here but I think you’ll get a good idea of what to expect from the following.

I can’t guarantee they’ll still be on the menu, but if so, don’t miss Sugar’s soft-shell crab sandwich ($12.99), which gets my taste buds tap-dancing and makes a convert out of my companion, a soft-shell virgin, right before my eyes. Potato salad along the lines of Mrs. Marshall’s rounds out lunch.

Repeat trips hook fish bites (sixpieces/$6.99, 12 pieces/$13.99), breaded nuggets of lake trout, atop a raft of buttered toast with Sugar’s worthy house-made tartar sauce for dipping.

You can check out the menu here.

Alert Your Tastebuds Richmond Restaurant Week Has Begun

There are over 50 restaurants participating so no matter what you’re craving there is a restaurant for you.

Published

You’ve got even more options on dining and supporting FeedMore this year with Richmond Restaurant Week.

We are excited to introduce a new way for our community to experience RRWeek! We are putting YOU, the dining guest, in the drivers seat. Choose your restaurant, choose your dining location, and choose your donation amount. You get the same exceptional cuisine, our restaurants get support and promotion, and Feed More gets to provide more hunger relief to our community. It’s an all around big win for the Richmond community. Are you excited to join us?!

FIRST, CHOOSE YOUR RESTAURANT(S)

With over a two dozen local restaurants participating, you are sure to find a longtime favorite or brand new love to explore and taste. Each restaurants’ menu will vary depending on their current offerings. There won’t be any special meals for RRWeek, but there will still be loads of incredibly delicious fare to choose from.

SECOND, CHOOSE YOUR DINING LOCATION

Each restaurant’s locations will vary, but you may have the option to eat inside, al fresco, or opt for take out or delivery. Spruce up your weeknight meal with delivery, plan a social distanced weekend event, or grab takeout and enjoy a picnic outdoors! The options are endless.

THIRD, CHOOSE YOUR DONATION AMOUNT

Finally, when you make your order, don’t forget to add a donation to Feed More! Each participating restaurant will have $5 donations available on their online menu for the duration of RRWeek. A $5 donation provides up to 20 meals for a neighbor in need. Feeling generous? Toss a few fivers in the cart and help Feed More give even more to our community’s most vulnerable populations.

There are over 50 restaurants participating so no matter what you’re craving there is a restaurant for you.
