A local 5th grader is about to make a big time debut. Ten-year-old Margaret Parrino, a student at Richmond Montessori School, was selected as a winner in her age division of the 2015 American Protege International Vocal Competition. Margaret will make her Carnegie Hall debut on Friday, July 3rd.

Parrino was selected from a pool of talented young musicians from across the globe. The winners will perform their solo debut in the Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall, one of the most prestigious concert venues in the world.

In addition to her music studies at Richmond Montessori School, Parrino studies voice privately at the Academy of Music. She will be joined in New York by an unprecedented number of Richmond students (four) and all students at the Academy of Music that placed in their age divisions on a variety of instruments.
