Armed robbery on E. Broad Street

The victim reported that he was walking westbound in the 1700 block of E. Broad St., when approached from behind by the suspect.

From VCU Alert:

Reported Offense: On September 19, 2016 at approximately 5:36 a.m., an armed robbery was reported to the VCU Police Department as having occurred at 17th and E. Broad Streets. The VCU Police is investigating the incident.

Brief description of how the crime took place: The victim reported that he was walking westbound in the 1700 block of E. Broad St., when approached from behind by the suspect. The victim attempted to flee when he fell in the parking lot. The suspect displayed a firearm, took the victim’s book bag, which contained the victim’s cell phone and wallet, and fled in an unknown direction. VCU Police have increased patrols in that area.

Suspect descriptions: The suspect is described as a black male, wearing all black, armed with a semi-automatic handgun.
