Volunteers to rally to get Summer Hill Elementary School ready

Summer Hill Elementary School (2717 Alexander Avenue) is looking for volunteers on Tuesday morning. Register with HandsOn Richmond to help out.

Six schools: Westover Hills, Redd, Swansboro, Reid, Miles Jones and Oak Grove will have their pre-K programs moved to Summer Hill Elementary School (2717 Alexander Avenue). This announcement occurred earlier this month and was surprising to many parents. Summer Hill Elementary has been closed for three years so RPS, teachers, parents, and concerned citizens have worked diligently to get the school ready for the young students.

Time is running out. The start of the school year is just around the corner.  Volunteers are working on Tuesday, August 30th from 9AM- Noon to put the final coat of polish on Summer Hill School.

HandsOn Richmond is organizing the volunteers. You must register if you plan to help out.

Richmond Public Schools (RPS) is hosting a series of facilities improvement projects and would like your help! We are working with groups such as Building a Better RPS, corporate partners, civic groups, and individual volunteers.
